Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator – Itinerant

Effective upon Board approval for the remainder of the  school year. The annual term of employment shall be 200 days, subject to continued funding and program needs. In accordance with West Virginia Code §18A-2-7b, Pocahontas County Schools will be implementing the "Stay Put Rule." The WV Legislature has determined that frequent teacher changes—especially in elementary grades—are not in the best interest of students.

As a result, the Legislature intends to minimize personnel transfers between professional positions within the 20 days leading up to the start of the instructional term. However, the county board, based on the superintendent's recommendation, may approve filling a position during this period if it is deemed to serve the best interest of the students.

The Communities In Schools (CIS) Site Coordinator is responsible for implementing the Communities In Schools model of Integrated Student Supports within assigned school(s). The Site Coordinator works collaboratively with school administrators, staff, families, community partners, and service providers to identify and address barriers to student success. Through a comprehensive system of prevention, intervention, and support services, the Site Coordinator helps improve student attendance, behavior, academic achievement, engagement, and overall well-being.

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Human Services, Sociology, or a related field; or demonstrated equivalent experience in education, youth development, social services, or a related field.

• Implement the Communities In Schools Integrated Student Supports Model with fidelity at assigned school location(s).
• Facilitate and lead a School Support Team composed of school administrators, teachers, counselors, social workers, attendance personnel, families, community partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
• Conduct and facilitate annual school-wide needs assessments utilizing available academic, attendance, behavioral, climate, and other relevant data to identify barriers affecting student success.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and revise a comprehensive School Support Plan aligned with identified student and school needs and school improvement goals.
• Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, teachers, attendance personnel, and student support staff to identify students at risk of academic failure, chronic absenteeism, behavioral concerns, social-emotional challenges, or other barriers to success.
• Coordinate and implement Tier I school-wide supports, programs, and enrichment opportunities designed to improve school climate, attendance, engagement, academic success, and student well-being.
• Coordinate and implement Tier II targeted interventions for groups of students requiring additional support.
• Conduct student needs assessments and develop individualized support plans for identified Tier III students.
• Provide ongoing case management services for identified students, including goal setting, progress monitoring, advocacy, and coordination of services.
• Maintain regular communication with parents, guardians, and families to support student success and encourage family engagement in the educational process.
• Coordinate referrals and connections to community-based resources, social services, health providers, behavioral health providers, mentoring programs, and other support services.
