Bedford is located in Southwest Iowa (pop. 1500). The district is nestled in a beautiful rural community close to a state park and 30 minutes from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. We are centrally located between the three major metro areas of Kansas City, Omaha, and Des Moines. Taylor County offers a wide range of amenities including museums, city parks, golf course, court house, swimming pool, county fair, unique stores, restaurants, pharmacy, and library. Lake of Three Fires State Park is a quick 5 minute drive from town offering excellent camping and hiking opportunities. Bedford boasts an active Chamber, several churches and historic brick streets. Taylor County is also an exceptional hunting and fishing area.

Our high school student-to-teacher ratio is 12:1. We are a 1:1 school, and the 9-12 students have Mac Books. Bedford students benefit from a rigorous curriculum, high academic expectations, small class sizes, and dedicated teachers. Our Elementary was named a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence in both 2021 and 2010. The Middle School is consistently at the top of our conference for academics.

Our MS/HS is ranked in the top 20 schools in Iowa according to  , and is High Achieving on the ISASPs. Bedford CSD serves approximately 170 students in the high school while promoting several extracurricular activities and/or clubs. We have an administration, school board, and community that support not only academics, but also athletics and activities. We understand the importance of extracurricular activities as they pertain to students' overall academic success.
