SUBSTITUTE ASSOCIATE / PARA - INFORMATION

The following guidelines will be in effect for the 2024-25 school year concerning substitute ASSOCIATE / PARA.

Preferred but not required:
Associate certificate from the AEA.

Associates/Paras might also be available to teach in the classroom if the appropriate licensure exists.

The Iowa Department of Education has made the following changes for  substitute teaching options. Please review this document.

Iowa Board of Educational Examiners - information on requirements to substitute teach: -license

• Trainings - please work with Melisa Venneman in Central Office for all required training, physical examination requirements, signature on specific board policies, etc.
• Completed application through Frontline/Applitracksystem
• Physical examination form. Required for all employees for placement on active substitute list; to be updated every three years at a cost to be borne by the employee.
• Clean returned background check and fingerprinting.

Special Education Sub Associate: $14.00 per hour

Regular Education Sub Associate: $14.00 per hour

Title: Special Education Associate, Associate

Reports To: Classroom Teacher(s) and Building Principal

Job Goal: Assist the teacher in providing an organized and a smooth functioning educational environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program.

FLSA Status: Exempt / Non-Exempt
