We invite prospective applicants to apply for the position of [ANTICIPATED] FAMILY CONSUMER SCIENCE TEACHER at the Southern Lehigh Middle School.
Family & Consumer science teachers teach students essential skills focused on work life balance, managing a home and household budgets. Content topics may include nutrition, menu planning, food preparation, clothing care and construction and design, economics and money management, personal care, consumer awareness, and child development. Must possess strong instructional talents and have demonstrated effective classroom management practices. Must share in the District's mission to promote student success in a supportive positive school climate.
Excellent communication, organizational and collaboration skills are required. Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, staff, parents and the District-wide community are necessary. Experience teaching in a technology rich, 1:1 school environment is preferred. The successful candidates will work collaboratively with colleagues and District leadership to deliver highly engaging curricular experiences to high school students.
Certification: A valid (active) Pennsylvania Instructional I/ II certification in Family Consumer Science PK-12 required.
Experience:
Previous experience with teaching and supporting students in Family Consumer Science preferred.
Note:
Selected candidates must be able to produce valid PA State Criminal Record Check (ACT 34), FBI Criminal History Record Investigation (ACT 114), PA DHS Child Abuse History Clearance (ACT 151), and PA Arrest/Conviction Report Certification Form (ACT 24) all within one year of issue at the time of hire.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, lift, reach, communicate (vision, hearing, and speech), carry or convey sufficient weight to safely and effectively carry out functions, duties, and responsibilities.
- Ability to independently ambulate in and around school buildings, locations associated with school events and field trips and office areas.
- Ability to lift, position, transport and maneuver students as needed.
