The Wildlife Educator for the West Region will be serving in Reno, Nevada, with the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

Schedule:

Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm; however, hours will vary by season, and there will be many weekends. Term of Service & Time Requirements:
Three-quarter term, 1200 hours.

Start date:

12/01/2026 - 8/31/27. Monthly stipend $2066.66 and an education award after successful completion of the term of $5,176.50. Mission: "To protect, conserve, manage, and restore wildlife and its habitat for the aesthetic, scientific, educational, recreational, and economic benefits to citizens of Nevada and the United States, and to promote the safety of persons using vessels on the waters of Nevada." The Wildlife Educator engages K-12 students in park-based, citizen science, and conservation projects that encourage higher learning in science and environmental subjects.

Duties :

The Wildlife Educator will be an essential member of the Conservation Education team. This person will support the field trips and community programming offered at Oxbow Nature Study Area. This person will also facilitate our statewide wildlife education programming in classrooms, among other Conservation Education programming. Ameri Corps members will also help develop and facilitate regional outdoor education events demonstrating archery, fishing, and hunting activities for families.

In addition, this person will assist with the Urban Wildlife Education Program. These programs extend throughout the northwest region of Nevada (from Winnemucca to Hawthorne to Incline Village and all parts in between). Their duties will include facilitating, evaluating, and fine-tuning our existing programming, developing new programs, training volunteers, assisting on volunteer projects, and monitoring the habitat area in and around Oxbow.
