We are looking for a Solar Farm Technician Associate to monitor solar and energy storage farms, ensuring mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed on schedule to maintain safety and operating targets. The role executes daily scheduling, prioritizes work to maximize generation, and ensures all maintenance is completed safely.
Role Responsibilities- Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV and battery storage electrical equipment.
- Ensure all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and according to site operating procedures for Storage/Solar PV sites.
- Complete Lock‑Out‑Tag‑Out (LOTO), JSA, Permit to Work, and job‑specific documentation required for safe maintenance and repairs.
- Identify improvement opportunities for job‑appropriate processes and procedures.
- Collect data and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements.
- Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required.
- Perform maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead.
- Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate.
- Take current and voltage readings as necessary.
- Document all work and generate reports as required.
- Identify gaps in safety standards and potential risks in the environment.
- Assist with balance‑of‑plant activities when required.
- Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions.
- Ensure site access, HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed per site protocols.
- Interface with third‑party contractors working at the facilities.
- Respond to non‑traditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, and resolution of O&M issues.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in engineering or a related science from an accredited U.S. school (correspondence or internet preferred).
- Minimum two years of experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference for renewable energy experience, preferably solar and battery storage.
- Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
- Willingness to relocate within a one‑hour drive of the site.
- Expertise in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenance; power plant safety protocols.
- Knowledge of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Routine use of a computer/tablet and other office productivity equipment such as calculator, copy machine, and printer.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
- OSHA Certified.
- Shift work experience.
- Field and office‑based role with some travel and visits to other RWECE office and field locations; ability to sit, walk, or stand for long durations.
- Work in extreme weather conditions.
- Walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
- Push, pull, or lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs.
The hourly base range for this position in Nevada is $25.93 - $35.09.
