Location: Nevada

The CNC Application Engineer will have the responsibility to provide support for SW North America machines, and turnkey solutions. Support is not limited to creating processes, toolpaths, programs, documents, and showroom demonstrations. Actively troubleshoot equipment to meet or exceed statistical expectations and cycle times. Review tooling and fixture design concepts. Utilize software such as NX, Solidworks, Mastercam, or Minitab. Provide formal and informal training to the customer.

Be able to execute the above functions on-site, and also abroad. Communicate and work with cross‑functional teams. Participate in trade shows or other promotional events. Interact with customers and represent SW in a professional manner.

The Application Engineer performs a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
  • Evaluate tooling, time studies, and fixture design concepts.
  • Participate in project feasibility reviews.
  • Develop and execute CNC programs based on project inputs.
  • Work with NX, or Mastercam to create and verify toolpaths when applicable. Ensure that path is free of collisions, and clearance is met.
  • Validate that manufacturing process meets or exceeds statistical specifications within the targeted cycle time.
  • Troubleshoot the process and its inputs if necessary. Use critical thinking skills or root cause analysis. Interpret CMM reports and draw conclusions.
  • Create documents and deliverables per job requirements.
  • Assist the training group in developing material as needed.
  • Train a wide variety of customers, on‑site and off‑site. This entails use and operation of the equipment, as well as programming.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Abilities:
  • 5+ years’ experience setting up four and five axis machining centers and CNC Programming.
  • Experience with a wide range of machine tools; lathe, mill, grinding, 5-axis applications, and multi‑spindle horizontal machining centers.
  • Experience with robot and cell automation including PLC, networking and peripheral devices, preferred.
  • A high percentage, estimated at 35% or greater, of travel is expected for this position
Work Environment &

Physical Requirements:

The ability to lift up to 40lbs of customer work pieces and cutting tools on a regular and repetitive basis is required
