A leading defense and space technology organisation is seeking a senior-level Mechanical Engineer VI to lead complex propulsion and test programs. This role is suited to an experienced engineer with deep expertise across testing environments, systems validation, and solid rocket motor technologies.

This is a high-impact position within a mission-driven environment focused on advanced national security and space applications.

The Opportunity

You will serve as a technical authority across testing, validation, and systems performance, contributing to mission-critical hardware programs. The role requires advanced engineering judgment, leadership capability, and the ability to operate across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and oversee complex, high-risk test programs
  • Develop structured test planning frameworks and methodologies
  • Lead data acquisition, statistical analysis, and signal processing efforts
  • Apply advanced measurement techniques and performance evaluation methods
  • Support verification and validation of requirements
  • Apply knowledge of electromechanical actuators, igniters, pressure vessels, solid rocket motors, hot gas valves, and thrusters
  • Contribute to system-level performance assessments including thrust and propellant behaviour
  • Support control system design and implementation
  • Conduct structural, thermal, dynamic, and CFD analysis
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and assemblies
  • Interpret and apply complex GD&T standards
  • Produce precise technical drawings and documentation
  • Develop program plans and coordinate across acquisition life cycles
  • Perform advanced requirements analysis
  • Lead risk management activities and mitigation strategies
  • Apply reliability and safety principles
  • Lead small teams within large-scale programs
  • Manage procurement activities and vendor performance
  • Support contract management and proposal development
  • Contribute to schedule and cost management
Technical Communication
  • Develop high-quality technical documentation
  • Deliver structured, audience-tailored presentations
  • Support cross-functional collaboration with clear and precise communication
Required Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. security clearance
  • U.S. person status required due to export regulations
  • Professional, collaborative, and self-motivated mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in rocket motor design and testing
  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline
