Job Description:
The Engineering Summer Intern program at Magnaflux is designed to provide a student with hands-on workplace exposure to daily engineering operations and projects. In this internship you will gain valuable experience and exposure to how the Engineering function impacts both product development and innovation, along with the manufacturing process. You will be expected to present on your projects to the team at the end of the summer.
This internship is a part of the division's succession planning and applicants should have a strong desire to work for ITW and Magnaflux post-graduation. This position is in our DeWitt plant, IA.
Essential
Job Responsibilities:
* Design new and update existing equipment and accessories for our non-destructive test products using Solid Works.
* Evaluate products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research, applying knowledge of mechanics, electronics, and materials.
* Establish and coordinate engineering projects and schedules from concept to completion. Assure thoroughness of design, testing and compliance to specifications and quality of products.
* Maintain product database by creating accurate and complete bill of materials and assembly prints in support of production units.
* Confirm system and component capabilities by designing testing methods and testing finished products.
* Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes through design improvements or method changes, research and test manufacturing and assembly methods and procedures.
* Work as a team member with other departments to learn and understand their challenges and work together to develop solutions for improvements.
* Provide technical support for the manufacturing and service of products.
* Interact with customers to develop, define, and clarify expectations.
* Provide technical support to sales and provide accurate cost and engineering design time for the quoting and design of special application equipment.
* Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Must be in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar Engineering at an ABET accredited school. Ideally targeting graduation December 2026 or May 2027.
* Prefer 3D CAD Experience, preferably Solid Works. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong team working skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team, and independently.
