POSITION PURPOSEThe CAD Technician position maintains and upkeeps the document management system, updates drawings as changes are made to the facility, performs 3D modeling and drawing creation, updates legacy AutoCAD files and provides design for new and retrofit equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Utilize Engineering and Design Tools in the performance of the work:- Solid Works
- AutoCAD
- Sigma Nest
- Real Works
- Produce concept designs and final design drawings for all project disciplines (general assembly, detail, layout, electrical, structural, civil, mechanical, piping, etc.) using accepted drafting standards and practices
- Modify and revise drawing changes that occur throughout the facility
- Produce and distribute electronic and paper drawing packages
- Manage and update the document management system, including:
- The Drawing Management System (Max View)
- EDMS Mill Manual System
- Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM)
- Assignment and control of drawing numbers, manual numbers, document retention
- Assist engineering staff with outside contractor document collection and control
- Directly manage smaller projects
- Manage portions of larger projects under the guidance of engineering staff
- Programming of plate parts for the Shipping Oxy-Fuel/Plasma Burn Beds
- Regular and reliable attendance
- Office presence
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a designer, draftsman, technician utilizing Solid Works and AutoCAD programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office
- Possess attention to detail and organizational skills
- 5+ years of experience as a designer, draftsman, technician utilizing Solid Works and AutoCAD programs
- Specific drafting and design work related to the steel industry or other heavy mechanical industries
- Ability to manage software for CAD and Engineering software
- Experience with 3D laser scanning and software
- Familiarity with Trimble and Real Works software
- Associates Degree in Mechanical Design or Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor’s degree with concentration on mechanical and electrical drafting disciplines
This position does not supervise other personnel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis position operates in both the office and industrial environment. The majority of the work will be in office environment and this position will periodically require work in the industrial environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment. This role is partially sedentary.
