Project Engineer, Environmental Engineer

Southwest Critical Materials LLC ("SCM") owns the Pumpkin Hollow copper asset in Nevada, comprising an operating underground mine, a large‑scale open pit development, and associated infrastructure. SCM is backed by Kinterra Capital Corp., a Canada‑based private equity firm focused on upstream critical minerals and infrastructure essential to the global energy transition.

SCM is advancing Pumpkin Hollow through a brownfield restart and expansion, with a strong emphasis on regulatory discipline, environmental stewardship, and execution certainty under tight timelines.

The role of Projects Engineer (Mining) will have a focus on mining study efforts and report to the Project Director. The MPE will provide technical guidance and work flow coordination for scoping, pre‑feasibility, and feasibility level studies for a large scale open‑pit copper project. The role works cross‑functionally with internal engineering teams, geology, operations, and external consultants to ensure high‑quality study deliverables that support investment decisions and project advancement.

This role could be filled within the USA or in Toronto, Canada. However, occasional travel will be required to the Nevada, USA

• Define design criteria, engineering scopes, and study execution requirements across mining, process design, tailings and site infrastructure.
• Guide and work directly with consultants across all mining disciplines (geology, mining, process, tailings, infrastructure, etc.)
• Integrate cross‑discipline inputs into study models and develop documentation to memorialize decisions.

• Practiced at using project controls information to manage schedule and budgets.
• Use company systems to track and report vendor progress, risks, issues, assumptions, and change management.
• Produce high‑quality documentation, technical memoranda, study reports, and stage‑gate deliverables.

• Use economic models to evaluate trade‑off results, option sensitivities, and value‑improvement initiatives.
• Support economic modeling with accurate engineering inputs.
• Contribute to project risk assessments, sensitivity analyses, and mitigation planning.

• Coordinate with external consultants, SMEs, and internal project teams.
• Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, audits, and peer reviews.
• Communicate engineering assumptions, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining, Metallurgy, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in mining engineering or project engineering roles.
• Direct experience working in teams that have completed PFS, and/or FS.

• Strong communication and technical writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and manage work streams.
• High organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.

• Occasional travel to project sites or consultant locations (less than 25%)
• Ability to work in hybrid office/site environments.
• Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and compliance with regulations.
