Job Description
MSTS manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our mission is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high-hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities through operations, engineering, education, field, and integration services, while acting as environmental stewards of the Site's Cold War legacy. - Assist in the preparation of specifications for structures, systems, and equipment.
- Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on intrusion detection systems utilized by MSTS and/or subcontractors.
- Install intrusion detection systems and CCTV in assigned areas.
- Make routine calculations and analyses in support of design engineering, such as earthwork, material quantity take‑off, and statistical data.
- Assist in computer‑related activities such as preparing data and using computers to solve technical problems.
- Assist engineers in reviewing and recommending action on requests for engineering change orders and obtain the required approvals.
- Perform technical research and gather data needed by engineers.
Participate in the On‑Call Program and provide mission‑critical support. - Review drawings in detail to ensure accuracy, completeness, and suitability.
- Provide support of operations at nuclear or high‑hazard facilities to maintain a condition and configuration needed to accept and support programs and projects.
- Contribute to solutions of assignment‑related problems and issues with limited scope and basic complexity.
- Assist in and operate specific equipment and/or tools necessary for particular assignments, including radiation detection equipment, electronics, and networking components.
- Follow checklists for specific equipment‑related tasks such as calibration, testing, and operation of equipment or tools needed for the position.
- Assist in defining specifications for procurements and initiate purchase requests.
- Provide support for execution of program/project activities and data collection (classified systems/networks, diagnostics, and laser systems).
- Associate degree in a field related to the position plus at least 3 years of progressive related experience, or high school diploma plus 5 years of progressive related experience.
- Vocational training preferred.
- Electronics vocational training or field experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently or in a team on a wide variety of tasks.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook required.
- Required participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
- Primary work location:
Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada). - Work schedule:
4/10’s, Monday‑Thursday (subject to change); overtime may be required in support of the On‑Call Program. - Pre‑placement physical examination, including a drug screen, required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Applicants must obtain and maintain a DOE Q‑level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship and a minimum age of 18. Background review includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants are subject to a federal background investigation for access to classified information. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity or other indicators of untrustworthiness can lead to denial or termination of clearance.

CompensationHourly salary range for this position: $29.33 – $44.00.
