Project Engineer - Aviation Infrastructure

HNTB is a company delivering solutions for large infrastructure projects. This opportunity involves producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications. The role consults with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery to meet schedules and client expectations. It requires applying engineering techniques and design criteria for projects of varying complexity and may mentor junior engineers.

Perform aviation-related civil design, planning, documentation, and construction support for large hub commercial airports, aviation cargo, and GA clients in Southern California; develop design considerations related to FAA Advisory Circulars, City Standards and Specifications; plan and direct internal design team, manage client relationships and project deliverables.

• Plan and distribute discipline-specific work, ensuring adherence to schedule and budget.
• Assist in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
• Assist in developing scope of work and level of effort for projects within discipline.
• Oversee completeness and accuracy of project team’s work, provide guidance and mentorship.
• Coordinate technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level.
• Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.

• Understanding of the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning.
• Ability to coordinate work planning and design across multiple technical disciplines.
• Preparation of high-quality deliverables that are on time, within budget and scope.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience.
• California Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
• AutoCAD Civil 3D experience.
• Solid communication skills, strong technical skills, and confident presentation ability.
