Position:
Senior Underground Surveyor (Ruby Hill)
Reporting to the Senior Mine Engineer, the Senior Underground Surveyor will operate, monitor, collect and record data from technologies including total station systems (laser/prism systems), cavity monitoring systems and other surveying controls. This role involves creating as‑built maps for underground development and production, collecting and reporting data for mine modeling, controlling ore and waste, measuring contractor progress, and providing the technical services team support in a full spectrum of mine‑site surveying duties.
The successful candidate will spend 90% of their time at the Ruby Hill Mine but may travel to other i‑80 sites in Nevada as needed.

Roster: 4‑days on / 3‑days off – Monday to Thursday
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to safety, environmental, confidentiality and code of conduct.
- Conduct daily and weekly surveys of development headings, vertical development and production stopes to monitor progress.
- Establish survey reference networks (control points and laser stations) and issue line and grade sheets to guide miners operations personnel.
- Use LiDAR and CMS (Cavity Monitoring Systems) to scan stopes and drifts, calculate mined volumes, and measure overbreak and underbreak.
- Process field data to generate monthly reports for drift underbreak and overbreak.
- Calculate the tonnage and volume of extracted ore and waste to assist in inventory management and end‑of‑month reporting.
- Process field data to generate 3D models and update mine maps using industry software (Deswik CAD and Maptek Vulcan).
- Update as‑built drawings for weekly and monthly progress reporting.
- Closed‑loop surveys to ensure accuracy of survey reference networks on a periodic basis.
- Assist with surface surveying for construction projects.
- Other duties as assigned to support i‑80 Gold Corp.
- Minimum of five (5) years of surveying in an underground mining environment.
- Proficiency with total stations, laser scanners, GPS, and modern survey methods.
- Experience with Deswik CAD and Maptek Vulcan.
- Exceptional attention to detail, mathematical aptitude, and strong cross‑functional communication skills to collaborate effectively with geologists, engineers, and underground mining crews.
- Formal education or technical certification in mine surveying, geomatics, mine engineering or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) considered a plus.
- Drone piloting license is considered a plus.
- Experience using drone technology in mine mapping a plus.
- Must be able to complete and maintain MSHA certification.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain underground or on surface, lift and carry up to 50 lbs, in varying climates and altitudes.
