Technical Support, AV Technician
Create and maintain an efficient work and learning environment through provision of all audio and visual technologies used by NICC . Implement and maintain technology systems utilizing best practices. Establish communication standards for district wide collaboration.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Responsible for providing College-wide design and implementation of all AV control systems, podiums, displays and audio equipment utilizing current best practices.
- Act as the primary owner for audio-visual delivery, ensuring high-quality standards and seamless execution for all college-wide events and productions.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive classroom technology plan for all installations, upgrades and maintenance of classroom equipment. Ensure plan revision on a yearly schedule.
- Administer the college-wide support of video conference systems, including, but not limited to, accounts, software settings, room integrations, hybrid learning, and security protocols.
- Administer the college VoIP phone system, including, but not limited to, user extensions, call queues, voicemail, auto-attendants, and hardware deployments.
- Vet, recommend, and support new feature releases from the phone and video conference system.
- Provide expert recommendations and technical specifications for the procurement, upgrade, and integration of campus multimedia equipment.
- Assist employees and others with setup and operation of video, lighting, sound and other systems; retrieve, inspect and clean equipment after use.
- Install audio/visual equipment when needed, including software and/or software updates. Perform diagnostic tests to verify functionality and/or troubleshoot problems.
- Assist Help Desk staff with classroom and PC lab equipment.
- Participate in professional development of enhanced training to advance skills, knowledge,and abilities as they relate to position.
High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two years’ experience in working with multimedia equipment and technologies required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant certifications preferred.
Must possess valid driver’s license.
Essential FunctionsComprehensive knowledge of AV equipment operation, installation, basic maintenance, electronic circuits, and network connections. Strong, hands-on experience and formal training in audio/visual systems and communications technologies. Ability to diagnose mechanical, electronic, and PC hardware issues accurately and deliver effective, timely solutions. Deep understanding of new and emerging technologies with the ability to share relevant advancements with campus committees and stakeholders. Experience in training and instructing others in electronics, multimedia, and graphics applications.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and build rapport with faculty, staff, and students of all technical skill levels. Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Proven ability to work cooperatively in a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.
