Job Description Position Summary
The High School Auditorium Manager is responsible for the overall operation, scheduling with the AD, technical support, and facility management of the school auditorium. Working directly with the Activities Director, this position ensures the auditorium is a safe, professional, and welcoming venue for school programs, community events, and outside organizations while providing technical expertise for performances and supervising student involvement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Facility Scheduling and Event Coordination- Work collaboratively with the Activities Director to coordinate all auditorium events and activities.
- Maintain the master schedule for all auditorium events, rehearsals, and facility use.
- Serve as the primary contact for school staff and outside organizations requesting use of the auditorium.
- Manage facility use requests and ensure all required usage forms, agreements, and documentation are completed.
- Coordinate event logistics with school personnel, the Activities Director, and outside groups to ensure successful events.
- Serve as the facility key holder during events involving outside organizations.
- Open the auditorium prior to scheduled events and secure the facility following event completion.
- Ensure the auditorium and associated spaces are clean, organized, secure, and prepared for each event.
- Coordinate maintenance needs with district maintenance staff as necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee all technical aspects of performances and events.
- Set up and operate sound, lighting, projection, and stage equipment as required.
- Prepare the performance space by:
- Providing appropriate sound and lighting for each event.
- Setting up the concert enclosure when needed.
- Opening and securing the orchestra pit when required.
- Flying and adjusting curtains, backdrops, and stage drapery appropriate for each performance.
- Ensure all technical equipment is operated safely and maintained in proper working condition.
- Operate lighting and sound during performances or schedule and supervise trained student technicians to fulfill these responsibilities.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule student lighting and sound technicians.
- Schedule and supervise student ushers for performances and special events.
- Provide technical support for concerts, plays, assemblies, awards ceremonies, guest speakers, graduations, and other school or community events.
- In collaboration with the Activities Director, identify, coordinate, and book professional performances and guest productions that enhance educational opportunities for students and the community.
- Serve as the primary liaison with performers, production companies, and facility users regarding technical requirements and event logistics.
- Ensure compliance with district policies and all applicable safety procedures regarding auditorium operations and stage equipment.
- Provide supervision during events to ensure the safety of students, staff, performers, and audience members.
- Maintain a safe and organized backstage environment.
- Experience with theatrical lighting, sound systems, stage rigging, and auditorium operations preferred.
