Deputy Attorney General - Government And Natural Resources Division - Unclassified

Exempt (FLSA); unclassified position entitled to standard state benefits; serves at the will of the Attorney General. Employment contingent upon successful background check.

This attorney position represents multiple agencies in the State of Nevada, including the Department of Education, the State Board of Education, the Unclaimed Property Division, and the Governor’s Office of Science Information and Technology. Primary duties include litigation in both federal and state court. Additional duties include statutory interpretation and legal advice on matters relevant to the agency, as well as the Nevada Administrative Procedure Act, Public Records Act, and the Nevada Open Meeting Law.

• Graduated from an accredited law school and licensed in Nevada or eligible for a limited practice certification.
• Hold a valid state driver’s license at the time of appointment.
• Preference for candidates with recent litigation and/or government service experience.
• Working knowledge of rules of civil and appellate procedure, evidence, and local court rules preferred.
• Must possess strong communication skills, planning, prioritizing, and executing timelines without supervision.
• Must exhibit professionalism, organization, self‑motivation, and leadership skills.

• Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, and travel.
• Ability to read printed materials and computer screens, hear and speak to communicate in person, virtually, and over the telephone, and to speak in clear and understandable manner.
