Job DescriptionThe town of Sainte-Mère-Eglise, with a population of just under 3000, is a significant site of the 1944 D-Day landing and the first town liberated by air during World War II. It attracts thousands of visitors during the summer, especially for the commemorations. The municipal police officer in Sainte-Mère Eglise, working within a team of two, is responsible for the prevention necessary to maintain public order, safety, security, and cleanliness.
The officer also maintains a close relationship with the community and plays a key role in the security arrangements for D-Day commemorations and other events.
- KNOWLEDGE:
Understanding the powers of the mayor and the duties of public safety and justice administrations, as well as the techniques for neutralizing dangerous weapons and animals, communication, conflict management, mediation, and arrest.
- KNOW-HOW:
Applying and monitoring the mayor's police powers within the jurisdiction, proactively informing residents of current regulations, gathering and transmitting information to superiors, quickly analyzing situations or unforeseen events, reporting events and actions taken during service to higher authorities, and fostering communication and dialogue with the public.
- BEING:
Demonstrating rigor, strong teamwork, and autonomy, being available, having a keen sense of public service, good physical condition, strong listening and mediation skills, and adherence to professional ethics.
Priority recruitment through transfer. Non-armed position. Job demands: variable work schedule, availability including weekends and holidays during events and public gatherings.
Working conditions:
35-hour workweek, compensation package, mutual participation and insurance, membership in COS Normand (discounts, vacation checks, outings, financial support for family events), and staff association.
