About The Job
The position functions to support the policies and procedures of the Emergency Services Department and the Mitchell County Regional Health Center. It maintains the highest possible standards to provide the highest level of care and treatment to persons utilizing the ambulance service. The role may require staffing of an ERV (Emergency Response Vehicle) and responding to calls immediately to manage patients independently.
The paramedic is an allied health professional whose primary focus is to provide advanced emergency medical care for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual possesses the complex knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and also assists with patient care in the Critical Access Emergency Department.
24 hours a week
HoursWorks Sunday through Saturday, including holidays.
Pay$24.73 per hour, increases with experience.
Qualifications- State of Iowa Paramedic, Paramedic, or Paramedic Specialist (required)
- BLS, PALS, and ACLS (required)
- National Registry Certification Paramedic (preferred)
- Emergency Vehicle Driving Safety course (preferred)
- 2 years previous healthcare or ambulance experience (preferred)
- Able to deal tactfully with the public and staff and work harmoniously with other personnel.
- Able to function independently in high‑stress situations and provide competent care based on standing protocols.
- Able to take charge and lead other crew members in patient care and all aspects related to EMS.
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid driver license.
- If over 21 years of age; current state driver’s license in good standing and insurable.
- If over 21 years of age; satisfactory driving record in accordance with the MCEMS Driving Policy.
Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25‑bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.
