AMBULANCE DRIVER – Humboldt County Memorial Hospital, Humboldt, IA
Hiring Ambulance Drivers for a busy EMS and Transport Team – must be at least 20 years of age. Coverage for weekday days, including holidays. On-call all hours. We provide Emergency Vehicle Operators Training. Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Job DescriptionPrimary Function:
Drive the ambulance on non-urgent and urgent responses in a safe manner following all HCMH driving protocols.
Reports to:
Jordan Erie, EMS Leader.
- Help patients onto the ambulance gurney and load them into the ambulance, assisted by partner or other medical personnel.
- Transport patient to assigned medical facility, unload patient, and take patient inside the facility to where directed by medical personnel.
- Accompany EMTs and paramedics on emergency calls to transport patients to hospitals when assigned to do so.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Iowa driver’s license.
- Willingness to participate in on‑the‑job training.
- Map reading ability.
- Minimum educational requirement:
Iowa driver’s license and CPR certification.
- Heavy lifting, 45 lbs. & over.
- Moderate lifting, 15‑44 lbs.
- Light lifting, under 15 lbs.
- Heavy carrying, 45 lbs. & over.
- Moderate carrying, 15‑44 lbs.
- Light carrying, under 15 lbs.
- Operating mechanical equipment.
- Operating office equipment.
- Operating motor vehicle.
- Repeated bending.
- Pulling hand over hand.
- Straight pulling.
- Operating mechanical equipment.
- Ability to see.
- Walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling, twisting.
- Ability to write, read, count.
- Other physical demands as specified upon hire.
- Outside and inside work environments.
- Travel, dust, grease and oils, solvents.
- Radiant/electrical energy, slippery/uneven surfaces.
- Working around machines with moving parts and moving objects.

- Longer or irregular work hours.
- Exposure to fumes, smoke, gases, silica, asbestos, etc.
