Location: West Union
About the Position
Gundersen Health System Ambulance (GHSA) is seeking a casual on‑call EMT to join our West Union, IA ambulance team, providing advanced pre‑hospital patient care across nearly 1,000 square miles of Iowa and Wisconsin.
Location:
West Union, IA ambulance station.
- Respond to emergency and non‑emergency calls, treating and transporting patients.
- Operate as a crew member on the ambulance in both Rural 911 and inter‑facility transfer environments.
- Provide EMT‑level clinical care to patients of all ages in accordance with Gundersen Medical Direction policies, protocols, and standards.
- Support Incident Command System and Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) training and operations.
- Casual/on‑call (non‑benefit eligible) position with 12‑ and 24‑hour shifts.
- Must work a minimum of 24 hours of open shifts per month.
- Start pay of $17.93 per hour, increasing with experience.
- After new employee orientation, perform 10x12‑hour ride‑along shifts with a Field Training Officer.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (NREMT) Certification.
- Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMT‑B) by time of start;
Iowa EMT license within 90 days of hire. - Valid Wisconsin, Minnesota, or Iowa driver’s license.
- Current Infant‑Adult Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers.
- Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation (CEVO) or equivalent and IC100, 200, and 700 course certificates within 60 days of hire.
- Prior experience in an emergency or pre‑hospital setting is strongly preferred.
