Medical Office Clerk - Family Practice Residency Training (FMR)
Medical Office Clerk will provide administrative and front‑desk support in a healthcare setting by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, maintaining accurate medical records, and coordinating daily office operations. Serve as a liaison between patients, healthcare providers, hospitals, and community organizations while ensuring effective communication, patient eligibility verification, and timely access to medical services.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED. Medical terminology desired.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)
- License: Not applicable
- Experience: At least 12 months in an office setting, preferably medical.
- Qualified typist with minimum 50 WPM.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets patients/visitors at front desk.
- Answers main office phone line, directs calls, takes messages.
- Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility.
- Obtains updates and files medical records.
- Organizes and researches patient records, extracts needed information, and reviews records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
- Ensures arrival of records prior to appointments.
- Initiates and locates medical records as needed.
- Obtains documentation as requested by providers.
- Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of medical care and operations.
- Creates appointment schedules and templates in patient appointment computer system.
- Conducts end‑of‑day process and resolves pending appointments.
- Liaison with local hospitals and community hospitals.
- Communicates orally and in writing with patients, base organizations, medical professionals, community resources, and TRICARE.
Work Environment &
Schedule:
Onsite, Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:30pm. 1‑hour unpaid lunch. 40 hrs/week.
Compensation & Benefits: Up to $19.00 per hour + Health & Wellness.
Physical Requirements: Primarily sedentary, includes prolonged walking, standing, sitting, or bending.
