Position Overview
CRHC is looking for a PRN (as needed) Pharmacist. This position’s hours and days may vary.
Primary FunctionResponsible for Advancing Exceptional Care by prioritizing safety and quality in patient care. The role enhances patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and overall health standards aligned with CRHC’s philosophy.
Qualifications- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (RPh) – Required
- Minimum of one (1) year of hospital pharmacy experience – Preferred
- Current, unrestricted license in Iowa – Required
24/7 facility; schedules vary by department. Flexibility is required.
- On-call availability as needed
- Weekend and holiday rotation as needed
- Non-exempt, eligible for overtime
- Sit, stand, walk for varying lengths of time
- Lift, push, pull, or carry light to moderate loads
- Use fine motor skills, grasping, reaching, handling equipment
- Perform routine movements: typing, writing, handling supplies
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch occasionally
- See and hear well enough to read documents, operate equipment, and communicate
- Work in a dynamic environment, adapting to changes

EssentialJob Duties & Responsibilities

- Interpret and transcribe verbal and written medication orders into computerized profiles accurately and promptly.
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, including sterile products, accurately and timely.
- Issue and track controlled substances per legal requirements.
- Verify work completed by pharmacy technicians.
- Ensures safe, cost‑effective medication therapy per protocols.
- Review regimens for contraindications, interactions, duplications, allergies.
- Provide pharmacokinetics consults and drug dosing support.
- Review culture/susceptibility data and recommend adjustments as needed.
- Detect and report adverse drug reactions and errors.
- Document assessments and interventions accurately.
- Collaborate with providers and communicate changes in patient condition or therapy.
- Use EMR system to enter and review patient data, medication orders, and documentation.
- Conduct and document inspections of medication storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas.
- Participate in CRHC’s Quality Program, committees, performance improvement initiatives, and operational support activities.
- Demonstrate commitment to quality improvement practices.
- Regularly attend department huddles.
- Complete tasks as outlined on the Department Huddle Board.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support strategic initiatives of CRHC.
