Surgical Technician (Healthcare)

Our Surgery Technicians play an essential role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care  a vital member of the Surgical Services team, you will assist surgeons and providers during operative and endoscopic procedures while maintaining the highest standards of aseptic technique, patient safety, and teamwork. In this role, you will prepare the operating room for procedures, ensuring instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly selected and arranged.

You will scrub in for surgeries, anticipate the needs of the surgeon, and pass instruments, sutures, and supplies with precision and efficiency. You will assist with draping, gowning, gloving, and maintaining a sterile field throughout each case.

Additional responsibilities include performing sponge and instrument counts with the circulating nurse, handling and labeling specimens accurately, and supporting patient positioning and preparation as directed. After each procedure, you will help clean and prepare instruments for sterilization, restock supplies, and assist in maintaining organized and sanitary work areas throughout Surgical Services and Central Sterile.

As part of the surgical team, you will also help update and maintain surgical preference cards, support orientation of new personnel, attend required in-service training, and participate in quality-improvement activities. This position requires the ability to remain calm during emergencies, manage stress effectively, and adapt to rapid changes common in the surgical environment.

Candidates must be high school graduates or hold a GED. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or prior experience as a surgery technician is preferred. BLS certification is required. Candidates must be able to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts, and maintain basic computer skills and required certifications for the role.
