Job Summary

The Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is recruiting a full‑time Developmental Specialist III in Winnemucca, Nevada. This journey level role performs a broad range of duties described in the series concept and involves assisting in program planning by developing goals and objectives, conducting needs assessments, and collecting and reporting information about the program. Work may occur in homes, clinics, hospitals, residential facilities, outpatient, and community settings.

• Program for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities: develop, coordinate, and monitor implementation of individuals’ support plans to achieve identified goals in a least restrictive environment; provide case management, needs assessment, coordination, and supervision of supported living providers.
• Early Intervention Program: provide diagnostic and treatment services and case management for children under three who are medically fragile or have developmental delays; implement service plans with families to remediate delays and facilitate development of social, motor, communication, cognition, self‑help, and behavioral skills.
• Early Childhood Program: provide consultation and guidance to family specialists and collaborate with community organizations to train families of infants under one in best practices for infant care and development.
• Assess individuals with appropriate tools to evaluate eligibility and program planning; establish baseline and document progress.
• Develop treatment and service plans through interviews with individuals, families, and care providers; identify goals and recommend changes.
• Implement treatment and service plans; evaluate outcomes and revise as needed.
• Provide case management services, coordinate resources, assist patients in obtaining financial assistance, and prepare reports to courts and other agencies.
• Develop external resources, coordinate services with agencies, provide information on policy, identify funding sources, and participate in grant proposals and program review teams.
• Conduct home visits, negotiate contracts for housing and in‑home services, monitor providers and quality of living environments, and review billing for accuracy.
• Provide crisis intervention: respond to emergency calls, search for missing clients, report neglect, coordinate respite services, restrain or use behavioral controls, and follow protocols to protect clients and staff.
• Consult with clinicians, medical personnel, vendors, contractors, school districts, public agencies, community organizations, employers, and legal professionals to resolve service delivery issues.
• Develop training curriculum on early childhood development, parenting skills, and developmentally appropriate activities; deliver training to clients and care providers.
• Implement therapeutic activities; function as primary or co‑therapist in group therapy sessions and provide feedback, monitor treatment plans, and document client progress.
• Prepare reports related to evaluation of clients and therapeutic services; document case notes; prepare forms and documentation for billing.
• Supervise lower‑level professionals, paraprofessionals, support staff, teachers, university students, and volunteers as assigned.
• Perform additional related duties as requested.

Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, special education, human growth and development, psychology, counseling, social work or a closely related field; and two years of professional experience providing developmental, special education, intervention, treatment‑oriented, child/adult care, and instructional guidance services for individuals with developmental delays or disabilities; or one year of experience as a Developmental Specialist II in Nevada state service; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
