Job Summary The Patient/ Materials Transporter receives and transports patients, materials, equipment, and supplies
Essential Functions- 1. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- 2. Performs assigned tasks including regular departmental rounding and transport of patients or materials according to protocol.
- 3. Able to organize and care for equipment and report damage or malfunction.
- 4. Integrates safety, patient rights and infection control methods into work practice.
- 5. Responds timely to transport requests and escalates any delays to Supervisor or other designated Charge person.
- 6. Demonstrates proper body mechanics while assisting clinical staff in transferring patients to and from stretcher to bed, wheelchair, or vehicle.
- 7. Responsible to assemble, track location, restock, track expirations and maintain supply inventory for Emergency Code Carts.
- 8. Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
- 9. Attends mandatory in-services.
- 10. Collaborates and communicates with the health care team.
- 11. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
High School or GED Teamwork & Adaptability Acts as a Professional Role Model Excellent Communication Skills (both verbal and written) Attention to Detail Planning & Organizing Stress Tolerance
May be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and may be accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
Must be physically able to frequently push/ pull/ lift heavy objects more than 50 lbs. with a minimum of one (1) assist or assistive device; perform difficult manipulative, arm - hand steadiness and hand
-eye coordination skills; walk and stand for prolonged periods of time.
Must have the ability to concentrate on fine detail with interruption and attend to tasks for more than 60 minutes at a time. Individual must be able to understand theories behind customer service and timely transports.
