Job Summary:

The Medical Technologist performs a variety of clinical laboratory procedures, quality assurance, and instrument maintenance to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Under supervision, they ensure compliance with laboratory standards and contribute to departmental efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests according to physician requisitions and established protocols.
• Recognize test inconsistencies, initiate corrective actions, and assist colleagues in troubleshooting laboratory issues.
• Call critical test results promptly to physicians or nurses following established criteria.
• Conduct quality-control tests, analyze results, and take corrective measures when results are outside acceptable limits.
• Maintain detailed documentation of instrument checks, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Assist in specimen collection, processing, and clerical functions pertinent to laboratory operations.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate Degree in Medical Technology.
• Be familiar with Vitros instrumentation.
• Obtain ASCP or equivalent national Medical Technology certification within one year of hire.
• Demonstrate strong mathematical, reasoning, and language skills at the college level.
• Complete Mandatory Abuse Reporter Certification within six months of hire.
• Exhibit dependability, responsibility, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
