POSITION RESPONSIBILITIESGeneral Duties: A Community Health Worker (Doula) is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest experience possible.
Specific Duties- Conducting prenatal consultations to explore clients’ birthing preferences and discuss and concerns.
- Providing advice about nursing and aiding with childcare during the early postpartum period.
- Provide physical, emotional, and informational support to a person who is pregnant or experiencing pregnancy loss.
- Helping the pregnant person to make informed decisions about their pregnancy and birth.
- Attending the birth and providing emotional and physical support for patients throughout labor and delivery
- Supporting the family after the birth of the baby.
- Contact patients identified by care teams to offer Chronic Conditions support visits.
- Provide care management services to patients in their own home.
- Conduct classes at multiple locations on rotating schedules as needed.
- Contact patients prior to scheduled appointments to provide reminders.
- Collect patient information and release forms required for program.
- Aid patients in identifying and removing barriers in their healthcare.
- Maintains professional appearance and follows established dress codes.
- Follow established policies and procedures and maintains confidentiality.
- Demonstrates reliability and dependability in meeting work schedules, the fulfillment of responsibilities and commitments in daily attendance, punctuality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Maintains awareness of new information applicable to positions in duties and responsibilities (e.g. policies, meeting minutes, procedures, memoranda, protocols, etc.)
- Works in harmony with other healthcare professionals, clinic staff, administration staff and patients by exhibiting a positive attitude and a commitment to MCHC’s mission, vision, and values.

This position requires compliance with the Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the regular performance evaluation.
RequirementsPhysical Requirements
The primary part of work is in a well-lit, ventilated, and air-conditioned facility. It may require prolonged, extensive sitting/standing. Position may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and/or use of tactile information. The individual must be able to express ideas or exchange thoughts by means of talking, hearing, reading, and/or writing. The individual should have motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, eye-hand-foot coordination.

This position requires completion of an accredited training program leading to a Kentucky certification of Community Health Workers and completion of an accredited Doula and lactation program. Basic knowledge of computer systems and internet. Certification needed for this position includes certification of Community Health Worker certification by the state of Kentucky.
