Summary
:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) provides direct care for the residents at Osceola Senior Living and ORHC patients, following the Care Plan and assisting each resident/patient to achieve and maintain the highest level of health and physical condition.
Education and/or Experience
Prefer high school diploma or GED, or currently a student age 16 or older. Prior related work experience preferred.
Required Certification, Licensure, and/or RegistrationsCertified as a Nursing Assistant in the State of Iowa is preferred or needs to be obtained within 4 months of hire. CPR certification preferred. Child/Adult Abuse certification required within 6 months of hire.
Essential Functions- Communicates effectively with residents, patients, families, and coworkers to protect and promote each resident’s dignity, individuality, and rights.
- Recognizes and honors the resident/patient’s choice, privacy, dignity, and independence, and as a member of the multidisciplinary team, provides input in the care planning process.
- Provides or assists the resident/patient with daily needs and treatments in accordance with established policy and procedure, including bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, bed making, transferring, repositioning, toileting, serving and collecting food trays, encouraging feeding, answering call lights, ensuring a clean environment, transporting patients upon admission and dismissal, and assisting with ambulation and orienting patients to the facility environment to ensure safety.
- Performs or assists residents/patients in performing specific medical care activities in accordance with established policy and procedure to contribute to the resident/patient’s plan of care, including restorative exercises, specimen collection, bowel and bladder training, documentation of cares, intake and output, baths, dietary intake/calorie counts on flow sheets, and provides feedback to nursing staff on status or changes in patient conditions, pain management, and other concerns.
- Performs safety and infection control procedures to ensure a safe, clean environment for residents/patients and staff, including fire, tornado, evacuation, disaster plan, universal precautions, infection control procedures, hazardous and chemical communication program.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the strategic and operational plans of the facility and actively supports daily facility functions as part of this involvement.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
