Are you an experienced Payroll professional who enjoys combining payroll expertise with hands‑on HR support? Do you have strong Sage Payroll experience and confidence managing complex employee relations casework?

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well‑established and highly respected manufacturing business seeking an experienced Payroll Officer with HR to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a business that values its people, invests in development, and offers a varied role where no two days are the same.

Working closely with the Finance and HR teams, you'll take ownership of the payroll process while supporting managers with a broad range of HR responsibilities, ensuring employees receive an excellent service throughout their employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end weekly and monthly payroll using Sage Payroll.
  • Process starters, leavers, contractual changes, overtime, shift allowances, bonuses, statutory payments and deductions.
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and within strict deadlines.
  • Administer pensions, salary sacrifice schemes and payroll reporting.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with HMRC legislation.
  • Resolve payroll queries professionally and efficiently.
  • Provide first-line HR advice to managers and employees.
  • Lead and support complex employee relations cases including:
  • Disciplinary investigations and hearings
  • Grievance procedures
  • Performance and capability management
  • Long-term sickness and absence management
  • Flexible working requests
  • Occupational Health referrals
  • Prepare contracts, letters and HR documentation.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and induction activities.
  • Maintain HR records and employee data.
  • Assist with policy implementation and HR improvement projects.
