Creole Interpreter - Onsite; Columbus Junction, IA

Job Summary

Facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken language to another. Interpreting services include but are not limited to employment, training & orientation, meetings, human resources, health services, and other operational activities as assigned. This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality.

• Interpret spoken language for meetings, HR, training, health services, and other operational activities.
• Use dictionaries and glossaries to ensure clear and concise communication.
• Work independently with little to no supervision while also functioning as a member of a team to coordinate and provide support as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and sign a confidentiality agreement.
• Attend outside medical appointments as necessary (requires valid driver’s license).

• High school degree or equivalent preferred but not required.
• One year of interpreter experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
• Must pass the Interpreter Assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher.
• Strong verbal communication skills in dominant language and English.
• Excellent organizational, decision‑making, and follow‑up skills.
• Basic computer and typing skills preferred.

• Willing and able to perform physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Must be willing to work in all environments of the facility.
• Must have a valid driver’s license to attend outside medical appointments.

Reports to:

Manager Learning Operations.
