Director of Nursing

Overview

We are looking for a results orientated Director of Nursing (DON) with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills to exercise administrative and functional supervision over nursing personnel as directed by the Administrator. The successful applicant will have strong leadership and supervisory skills, and enjoy working with the elderly. The Director of Nursing plans, organizes, develops, and directs the overall operation of the Nursing department to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards.

• Exercise administrative and functional supervision of nursing personnel as directed by the Administrator.
• Lead and teach nursing staff, fostering a team atmosphere and leading by example on all shifts.
• Act as a liaison with residents, families, and support departments to adequately plan for resident needs.
• Display integrity and professionalism in all actions.

• Must be currently licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and maintain an active RN license in good standing throughout employment.
• Must have supervisory experience in a long‑term care setting, preferably as a DON.
• Strong leadership skills and ability to develop and interpret department programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Knowledge of long‑term care practices, related laws, regulations, and guidelines.
• Experience with state reporting and developing and implementing plans of correction.
• Understanding and adherence to company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
