Position Objective
Provide leadership and operational oversight for 2nd shift feed mill operations by ensuring safe, efficient production; regulatory compliance; accurate inventory control; and effective supervision, development, and accountability of night shift employees.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Direct and oversee all 2nd shift feed mill operations to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant production.
- Ensure accurate product tracking, inventory control, and lot documentation.
- Scale and enter feed deliveries and coordinate invoicing with bookkeeping.
- Oversee unloading, stocking, and loading of products.
- Monitor equipment and facility conditions; initiate, coordinate, and follow up on repairs.
- Ensure a smooth operational and communication handoff between shifts.
- Comply with and enforce all HACCP, FDA, safety, and cooperative policies.
- Participate in special projects and assist with feed mixing as operational needs require.
- Provide direct supervision to 2nd shift employees, including scheduling, task assignment, and performance oversight.
- Recommend hiring, disciplinary actions, and terminations for 2nd shift employees, subject to approval by the Location Manager, in accordance with company policy and applicable employment laws.
- Prepare and conduct documented mid-year and end of year performance evaluations for night shift employees, subject to management review and approval.
- Approve and verify weekly time records to ensure accuracy and compliance with wage and hour requirements.
- Review, approve, or deny vacation and time-off requests based on staffing needs and policy guidelines.
- Train, coach, and develop employees to promote safety, productivity, and accountability.
- Address performance issues promptly and elevate concerns to management as appropriate.
- Communicate production metrics, staffing concerns, safety issues, and operational challenges to management in a timely manner.
- Immediately report safety incidents, equipment failures, and compliance issues.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- General computer proficiency.
- Class A CDL or ability to obtain.
- Ability to work evening and shift hours.
- Ability to climb heights, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail, leadership, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Regular use of hands, hearing, walking, and reaching; occasional standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling; ability to lift up to 50 lbs; vision requirements include close, distance, color, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
