The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Farrowing Lead. This role is hands-on, focused on leading the team that ensures newborn piglets and their mothers receive the best possible care. The Farrowing Lead will manage farrowing schedules, train and guide staff, and closely monitor animal health and welfare to support strong production results.

Essential Functions

  • Manage daily operations in the farrowing rooms.
  • Lead, train, and support the farrowing team on proper piglet care and farrowing protocols.
  • Monitor farrowing progress and assist with difficult farrowings.
  • Ensure excellent piglet care including processing, fostering, and treatments.
  • Track performance and maintain accurate production records.
  • Work closely with farm manager and veterinarians to improve performance.
  • Monitor farrowing room environment, health, and sanitation.
  • Uphold high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a sow farm
  • Strong attention to detail and animal care
  • Communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills, including data entry, email, and training modules.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License or access to reliable transportation

Preferred:

  • Leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in farrowing.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

This position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a barn environment with exposure to strong odors, animal waste, disinfectants, dust, and loud noise. Candidates must be able to perform these essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
