The Opportunity
We are seeking a dependable Gestation Lead to manage daily operations in the gestation barns. This is a hands-on role, focused on leading the team to ensure employees proper breeding and animal care practices while maintaining a healthy, productive sow herd.
Essential Functions
- Oversee daily operations in the gestation barns.
- Lead, train, and support team members working with bred sows.
- Oversee breeding, heat detection, pregnancy checks, and animal movement.
- Monitor sow health, body condition, and behavior, addressing concerns promptly.
- Work with farm manager and veterinarians to improve reproduction performance.
- Keep accurate records of sow care, treatments, and production data.
- Uphold high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, and safety.
Qualifications
- Experience working in a sow farm
- Strong attention to detail and animal care
- Communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills, including data entry, email, and training modules.
- Valid U.S. Driver's License or access to reliable transportation.
Preferred:
- Leadership or supervisory experience, preferably in farrowing.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
This position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in a barn environment with exposure to strong odors, animal waste, disinfectants, dust, and loud noise. Candidates must be able to perform these essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
