SummaryThe purpose of this position is to promote and provide a safe, secure, and interactive campus community for all students. The Assistant Director of Housing & Student Engagement is responsible for supporting the overall administration and operation of campus housing as well as directing the development, planning, coordination, and implementation of student engagement initiatives across the Ellsworth Community College campus. This position fosters a vibrant residential and campus community by leading other Assistant Housing Directors, Resident Assistants (RAs), and campus partners to create, implement, and manage inclusive and engaging experiences that enhance student success, retention, and sense of belonging.
Job Responsibilities- Manages housing according to building assignment and Resident Assistants(RA) at those locations.
- Takes call according to scheduled weekends and oversees all buildings and RA’s during that time.
- Performs frequent and regular inspections of assigned buildings for maintenance issues and violations of housing code.
- Assists with RA application review and hiring.
- Monitors the weekend on-call phone and responds to campus-wide housing issues on scheduled weekends. Oversees all buildings and RA’s during that time.
- Processes housing applications. Assigns rooms to new students and returning students moving to another housing unit.
- Assists Director of Housing with other Housing processes, procedures, and clerical duties as assigned.
- Enforces rules and issues tickets/fines for violations of the housing handbook.
- Submits requests for maintenance/repairs in a timely manner.
- Reviews weekly RA on-duty reports.
- Schedules and conducts weekly RA meetings, monthly dormitory meetings, and nightly dormitory hall monitoring.
- Chairs the Student Engagement Committee and leads other Assistant Directors of Residence Life, RA's, and staff in the creation, budgeting, planning, management, marketing, funding, and execution of engagement events around campus.
- Keeps records of student attendance and participation in each event and reports that data back to the Director of Residence Life & Student Engagement and the Student Engagement Committee for evaluation.
- Attends and supervises scheduled student engagement activities including evenings and weekends.
- Creates requisitions and PO's, shops for supplies for events while staying within budget.
- Schedules Student Engagement Committee.
Associates Degree Required, Bachelors preferred.
Certifications and LicensesValid Iowa driver's license within 30 days. First Aid and CPR certification required.
AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively orally and in writing to a diverse population of students. Knowledge and ability to organize multiple priorities and job duties. Knowledge of general office procedures and protocols.
Base Wage$39,967-$53,289 annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
