Position Overview
Higley Industries is seeking an experienced Lead Chemical Mixer to independently manage batch production in a regulated chemical manufacturing environment. This role is not entry-level and is not suitable for candidates without direct chemical mixing experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately, safely, and efficiently executing batch formulations. Precision is critical — errors in this role result in material loss, downtime, and safety risk. Experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently prepare and execute chemical batch mixes according to approved formulas and SOPs
- Accurately measure, stage, and add raw materials in the correct sequence
- Verify batch documentation before, during, and after production
- Operate and monitor mixing equipment, pumps, and transfer systems
- Identify and correct process deviations before material loss occurs
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards in the mixing area
- Communicate issues clearly and immediately to QA and Operations
- Train or guide less-experienced team members as required
Required Experience & Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)
Applicants must meet the following to be considered:
- 3+ years of hands-on chemical mixing experience in manufacturing
- Direct experience working with liquid chemical formulations
- Proven ability to follow batch sheets and SOPs without supervision
- Experience working in a regulated environment (chemical, food, pharmaceutical, coatings, agriculture, etc.)
- Strong understanding of chemical safety, material handling, and contamination control
- Demonstrated track record of accuracy, attention to detail, and accountability
Strongly Preferred
- Experience as a Lead Mixer or Senior Mixer
- Familiarity with ISO, FDA, or cGMP-regulated environments
- Experience in identifying and preventing batch errors
- Forklift or industrial equipment experience
