Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician – Koch Fertilizer, LLC, Fort Dodge, IA.

This role operates on a 4/10 schedule with overtime and on‑call as needed Monday – Thursday.

• Champion the Principle Based Management philosophy to develop the capability of the maintenance team and drive culture within the team.
• Adhere to all facility safe work policies, practices, and regulations.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment using precision maintenance best practices, tools, and techniques.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on industrial process equipment.
• Apply problem‑solving methods to identify root causes and eliminate failures.
• Cross‑train and assist in maintenance and partner with operations.
• Work with operations and maintenance teams to identify and prioritize maintenance needs.
• Experiment with new technologies, systems/solutions, and workflows to challenge the status‑quo and expand knowledge.
• Improve, develop, and implement maintenance process improvements and efficiencies.
• Anticipated travel up to 10% for trainings, collaboration, and support of other sites.

• Hands‑on experience in mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting and repair.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license.

• Ability to meet physical demands, including:
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds more than 160 feet.
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Wearing full Level A Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Ability to be medically cleared for respiratory protection and HAZWOPER programs.
• Serve as a member of the emergency response team as an emergency responder.
• Required to wear any or all of the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, FRC, acid suits, breathing air, gloves, safety boots, respirators, ACR flash suits, and encapsulated suits (in accordance with the JSA for the task).

• Technical certification or associate degree in Process Technology, Maintenance, Mechanical, or related field.
• Experience applying safe work practices – Lock Out, Tag Out (LOTO);
  Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
• Experience with a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
• Previous experience working in an ammonia, chemical, or refinery environment.
• Experience rebuilding pumps, compressors, or valves.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
