Process Technician

Insta-Pro International is a global leader in the manufacture of extrusion and pressing equipment for processing oilseeds, grains, pet food and fish feed. Our Process Technicians provide service and support to both internal and external customers. They frequently encounter challenges such as troubleshooting, managing tight schedules, and adapting to diverse work environments.

The Process Technician position will be located at our Grimes, Iowa Headquarters. Success in this role requires strong problem‑solving abilities, clear communication, and flexibility. Building good rapport with clients and being proactive in seeking technical support from colleagues is critical. This position travels both domestically and internationally to customer locations.

• Gain hands‑on experience with advanced R&D equipment, learning how to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot it.
• Assist in managing and adjusting lab inventory by applying effective inventory control practices.
• Perform assigned tasks during R&D runs.
• Apply theoretical knowledge during execution of assigned R&D projects.
• Understand and demonstrate extrusion technology to prospective customers.
• Follow established safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
• Maintain a clean work area, as well as care for all shop tools, machines, and equipment.

• Assist with set‑up of Insta-Pro equipment at customer locations.
• Gain practical experience in troubleshooting and performing service calls.
• Respond to customer inquiries and assist with parts orders.
• Work closely with Sales Team to advise visitors and prospects on equipment applications.
• Develop proactive engagement skills by checking on customer operations and providing necessary assistance.
• Prepare detailed activity and trip reports after travel to customer sites.

• Associate’s degree in mechanical discipline from a two‑year college or technical school, 0‑5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude required. Extrusion operation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of, and comfort with the use of power tools required.
• Fluent in English required. French is a plus.
• Must be eligible to work in the USA and have valid passport.
• Willing to travel 25‑35% of the time, both domestically and internationally.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office.
