Job Title: 2nd Shift Production Supervisor – Dry Spice Manufacturing

Job Summary

The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all production operations during the evening shift within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures safe, efficient, and a high-quality of production while maintaining food safety standards, and leading shift personnel.

Key Responsibilities Operations & Production
  • Supervise and coordinate all production activities for the 2nd shift, including batching, blending, bagging, filling, and packaging of products
  • Ensure production schedules are met while maintaining efficiency and minimizing downtime
  • Monitor production processes and make real-time adjustments to meet output and quality goals
  • Collaborate with planning, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve operational issues
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop hourly production team members, including operators, packers, and material handlers
  • Assign work, monitor performance, and maintain accountability for shift productivity
  • Conduct shift meetings to communicate goals, safety updates, and performance expectations
  • Support employee engagement, training, and retention initiatives
Food Safety & Quality Compliance
  • Ensure strict adherence to food safety regulations (FDA, GMP, HACCP, SQF)
  • Maintain allergen control procedures, sanitation standards, and product traceability
  • Conduct periodic quality checks and ensure product specifications are met
  • Assist the Quality department with investigations and resolve quality issues, implementing corrective actions as needed
Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce all safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Report safety concerns and address hazards immediately
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure proper documentation and follow‑up
  • Promote a strong safety‑first culture across the shift
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce waste, and increase efficiency
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as throughput, downtime, and yield
Administrative Duties
  • Complete production reports, shift logs, and labor tracking documentation
  • Ensure accurate inventory usage and material reconciliation
  • Coordinate with incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure smooth transitions
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2–5+ years of manufacturing experience, preferably in food, spice, or ingredient processing
  • 1–3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
Skills & Knowledge
  • Understanding of food manufacturing processes (dry blending, grinding, packaging)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, production‑driven environment
  • Basic computer skills (ERP systems, Microsoft Office)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Comfortable working in environments with airborne spices, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to wear required PPE (hairnets, respirators, gloves, etc.)
  • Food manufacturing facility specializing in dry spices and seasonings
  • Exposure to strong aromas and spice dust
  • Fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment
