Production Manager

PGI is a growing organic herb/spice/botanical importing and production company that utilizes extensive food safety, handling and management practices to ensure a quality product.

This person is accountable for directing plant production activities to produce quality products, at the lowest cost, consistent with company schedules and policies to fulfill customer requirements.

• Controls and effectively utilizes the production capacity, manpower and equipment and outside resources through planning, organizing and scheduling to minimize losses; works within the framework of the budget to optimize company profitability.
• Selects, trains and promotes supervisory employees and provides effective and efficient management in the department.
• Oversee the production process and draw up a production schedule.
• Ensure that the production is cost effective.
• Identify internal and external resources needed and draft a timescale for the job.
• Estimate costs and set the quality standards with the quality team and safety coordinator.
• Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed; partner with Maintenance in the equipment selection process.
• Monitor product standards in partnership with the quality department and implement quality‑control programs.
• Ensure that health and safety guidelines are followed and identify training and development needs for team members.
• Participate in company planning and budget preparation, capital expenditure recommendation, manpower and space forecasting.

• 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing production role.
• Solid understanding of process improvement techniques, systems, and business, finance, and management principles.
• Knowledge of human resource principles and practices.
• Knowledge of machines, tools, engineering, and technology principles and practices.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, technical or related field (preferred food‑industry experience).
• 2 years’ experience as a Production/Operations Supervisor.
• Excellent project management skills and proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.
• Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations related to plant operations.
• Ability to coach and mentor employees individually and in groups.
• Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques.
• Knowledge of raw materials, quality systems and standards, health and safety standards, and compliance.
• Bilingual Spanish speaker.
• ERP experience such as SAP, Oracle, Odoo.
