Job Responsibilities

The Team Leader will direct the work and parts flow in their respective production area and assist employees in the operation of their equipment.

Safety First: obey the plant’s safety rules and procedures, wear PPE at all times, address safety concerns to promote an environment where zero injuries is the expected standard. Be available in the work area to assist employees, provide coverage when needed, and support other departments as required. Conduct pre-shift meetings with the team, train operators on standardized work, machine operations and quality inspections, and monitor adherence to standardized work.

Report results, issues and corrective actions to the Area Supervisor/Production Manager. Review hour-by-hour performance and take appropriate actions to correct issues. Perform minor corrections to equipment or ensure proper personnel are notified. Report non-conforming parts to the area supervisor. Conduct daily 5S and safety audits and verify equipment is functioning; sign off safety checklists. Follow escalation processes when equipment is down and respond to Andons per zone.

Participate in kaizen events and assist with downtime and scrap logging, as needed. Set up validation and communicate issues to the area supervisor or department manager. Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals and foster positive working relationships. Lead by example and encourage continuous improvement and positive behaviors. Follows Magna Body & Chassis and Magna operating principles.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Indirect supervision of hourly employees in the designated area.

Qualifications

(These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently)

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to obtain TWI 10-hour certification
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license and to operate overhead crane
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to set direction and make decisions
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Must exhibit high integrity and honesty
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately present information and respond to questions from various groups
  • Ability to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
