Job Description & How to Apply Below
Join a manufacturing team where precision, problem-solving, and technical expertise drive production success. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on CNC machining experience who enjoys programming, tooling design, process optimization, and supporting efficient manufacturing operations.
In this role, you will play a key role in supporting CNC machining and milling operations by developing programs, designing tooling and fixturing solutions, troubleshooting machining challenges, and helping ensure quality, efficiency, and repeatability throughout the manufacturing process.
Duties:Including but not limited to:
- Plan, set up, and execute CNC machine and mill operations, including tool selection, work holding setup, offsets, and first article verification.
- Develop, write, edit, and optimize CNC programs using CAM software and/or G-code for milling, turning, and related machining operations.
- Design and specify tooling, fixtures, jigs, and work holding solutions to support efficient and repeatable machining setups.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, holders, and tooling assemblies based on material, geometry, tolerances, and machining strategy.
- Perform tooling trials and prove-out runs, adjusting machining parameters to achieve required quality and cycle time targets.
- Maintain and manage tooling inventory, including condition assessment and procurement of replacement tooling and consumables.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product introductions and manufacturing process improvements.
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications while applying GD&T principles to ensure dimensional and quality requirements are met.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, chatter, dimensional nonconformance, and surface finish concerns.
- Document tooling setups, CNC programs, and process parameters to establish standardized and repeatable procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing setup times, improving tool life, and optimizing cycle times.
- Assist with inspection activities, first article approvals, and in-process measurement requirements.
- Ensure CNC equipment and tooling are operated and maintained in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Train and mentor machine operators on setup procedures, tooling practices, and program execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes and metal-cutting principles.
- Hands-on problem-solving skills with the ability to systematically troubleshoot tooling, setup, and machining issues.
- High attention to detail and commitment to dimensional accuracy and product quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with engineering, production, and quality teams.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient in CNC setup and operation of milling and turning centers.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Working knowledge of cutting tool geometry, speeds and feeds, and toolpath strategies.
- Experience designing or specifying tooling, fixtures, and work holding solutions.
- Strong mathematical and measurement skills, including the use of precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and indicators.
- Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications for communication and documentation.
- Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, Solid Works CAM, or similar platforms preferred.
- Proficiency with G-code programming and manual machine-side program editing preferred.
- Familiarity with CNC controls such as Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, or Okuma preferred.
- Experience with Solid Works or similar CAD software for tooling and fixture design preferred.
- Knowledge of steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and alloy materials and their machining characteristics preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles in a machining environment preferred.
- Experience using CMM equipment or other precision measurement systems preferred.
- Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems for production tracking and material management preferred.
- Associate's Degree in CNC Technology, Machining, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on CNC setup, programming, and tooling experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Demonstrated experience developing and optimizing CNC programs for production applications.
- Experience designing or specifying tooling and fixturing solutions for machining operations.
- Ability to independently manage CNC setups, tooling projects, and programming responsibilities with minimal supervision.
- Manufacturing and machining environment with…
