Schedule
Monday-Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm
Additional hours may be necessary on a required or voluntary basis.

Animal Care and Handling Barn Cleanliness
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor, feed, water, and record daily care and activities of animals
Maintain a clean work environment including pens, unloading areas, etc.
Assist with moving hogs from trucks into the facility; properly sort hogs into various pens
Complete paperwork for received hogs such as scale weights
Move hogs from pens to processing and complete euthanasia procedures, if assigned to that specific duty
Report problems and/or broken or damaged equipment, as needed
Maintain regular and predictable on-site attendance
Situations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal workload.
Qualifications
Experience working with livestock, preferred
Working knowledge of humane handling; ability to attain sign-off from management to handle animals within the first week of employment
Ability to identify and sort animals
Ability to accurately count, complete basic math operations, and read a scale to understand weights
Ability to communicate and accurately and legibly record information
Ability to follow all USDA, HACCP, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and work safely with animals and around sharp objects
Comfortable with euthanizing animals, if performing that specific duty
Ability to work in a facility that processes hogs; be comfortable working with and/or around blood
Must be 18 years of age or older for insurance purposes
Physical Requirements
Stand and/or walk up to 100% of workday
Consistently and repetitively perform tasks
Frequently lift/push/pull heavy objects up to 150 pounds
Consistently bend at the knees and/or waist in potentially awkward positions
Consistently turn and/or twist
Ability to work in an environment with extreme cold, wet/slippery conditions, and/or loud noise levels
