Job Summary
The Tool Maker Assistant supports Tool Makers in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tools, dies, and fixtures used in manufacturing processes. This position offers hands‑on experience and training in tool making, allowing individuals to develop their skills in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Must have CNC Machining experience, familiarity with CAD/CAM systems, and computer proficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Tool Makers in the setup and operation of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
- Help in the fabrication, assembly, and modification of tools, dies, and fixtures based on specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in the inspection and testing of tools and dies to ensure they meet quality and design standards.
- Document work processes, maintain records of tooling, and assist in inventory management.
- Support troubleshooting efforts by identifying and reporting issues related to tooling and machinery.
- Follow blueprints, sketches, and CAD designs to assist in the creation of tooling components.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or training in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Basic mechanical skills and a willingness to learn about tool making processes.
- Familiarity with hand tools, as well as measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers, is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and follow instructions from experienced Tool Makers.

Basic understanding of machining and fabrication processes; eagerness to learn about CNC operation and programming. - Attention to Detail: Strong focus on precision and quality in work output.
- Problem‑Solving: Ability to assist in identifying and resolving tooling‑related issues.
- Safety Awareness: Understanding and commitment to safety practices in a manufacturing setting.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork.
- Ability to lift and carry materials and tools (up to 50 pounds).
- Capability to stand for extended periods and work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise.
- On‑the‑job training will be provided to enhance skills and knowledge in tool making.
