Job SummaryThe Machine Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the food manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for conducting routine maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and performing repairs to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, creative problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
The Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for the transfer of important manufacturing knowledge to end users on proper machinery operation and maintenance.
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic production machinery. Performs preventive maintenance tasks on a scheduled basis to ensure optimal performance and longevity of machinery. Operates and performs maintenance on tools, equipment, and minor appliances.
- Responds promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose problems, and execute necessary repairs to minimize production interruptions. Conducts routine inspections of manufacturing equipment and machinery to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
- Collaborates with various departments to coordinate maintenance activities, ensuring minimal impact on manufacturing and production schedules. Trains employees and end users on proper machinery operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Assists in the installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
- Maintains accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and spare parts inventory.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures, promoting a culture of workplace safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborates with external vendors and contractors as needed for specialized repairs or installations.
- Assists with and may lead special projects as assigned.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant trade school education preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in equipment troubleshooting and maintenance in a manufacturing environment. An equivalent combination of education, apprenticeship, and training may substitute for this requirement.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with PLC systems and industrial controls.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Familiar with Lockout/Tagout procedures.
- Proficient with hand and power tools along with multimeters.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite/CMMS.
- 3D printing and associated design preferred, not required.
- Metal fabrication experience preferred, not required.
- Possess a self-starting attitude and the ability to approach production challenges creatively, contributing innovative solutions that enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond independently to emergency maintenance situations.
- Able to obtain and maintain any required licenses or certifications as required.
- Able to follow established procedures and carry out complex duties with minimal supervision. Able to assess and troubleshoot problems and take appropriate corrective action.
- Able to work as a team member and establish effective and cooperative working relationships while using tact, good judgment, and resourcefulness.
- Able to work effectively within deadlines, under stress, and with changing work priorities. Possesses self-supervising attributes and a positive and congenial attitude.
- Advanced skill in planning, organizing, and scheduling resources and activities. Has a strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to communicate and present information effectively both in verbal and written format to varied audiences.
