Overview

Smithfield Foods, a leading processor of pork and hog products, is seeking motivated General Production team members to join a growing, responsible company that values safety, quality, and teamwork.

As a General Production employee, you will play a key role in delivering safe, high‑quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting your coworkers. Your reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic will help meet our standards for safety, quality, and teamwork every day.

• Operate hand tools, knives, machinery, and equipment to process meat products for the consumer.
• Perform daily tasks to maintain a safe and efficient production line.
• Collaborate with teammates to ensure products reach families across America.
• Adhere to safety, quality, and hygiene standards at all times.

• Perform continuous or repetitive movements, such as grasping, pinching, and flexing arms.
• Stand on concrete or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
• Work around animal blood, carcass parts, and in wet, humid, or noisy environments.
• Operate knives (if trained) and use protective equipment such as hard hats, eye or hearing protection, and steel‑toed shoes.
• Use sanitation chemicals and work in temperatures ranging from 20–40°F to over 100°F.
• Climb ladders, steps, and platforms; bend, stoop, twist, and walk long distances.
• Handle repetitive overhead lifting up to 30lbs and single lifts of up to 60lbs with mechanical assistance when required.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Willing and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Capable of performing tasks that require continuous or repetitive movement.
• Ready to work scheduled shifts and, if needed, overtime based on production demands.
• Physical fitness to meet the demands listed in the previous section.
• May require certification to operate specific equipment.
