General Labor​/Heavy Lifter - 2nd Shift

Smithfield Foods is hiring a General Production team member to help deliver safe, high‑quality pork products to consumers across the United States.

• Operate hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient production line.
• Support coworkers and ensure teamwork and quality standards are met every day.
• Perform tasks that may require continuous or repetitive movement, lifting, and working in varying temperature conditions.
• Assist with sanitation and cleaning duties and work in a wet, humid, or noisy environment while wearing required PPE.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Follows oral and written instructions reliably.
• Physically fit to stand for up to a 12‑hour shift, work on concrete or platforms, and use hand‑eye coordination.
• Capable of working with animal blood, carcass parts, and in cold (20‑40°F) or hot (over 100°F) areas.
• Willing to work overtime when production demands occur.
• Demonstrates good communication, teamwork, and safety awareness.

• Perform continuous repetitive movements such as grasping, pinching, and gripping.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and twist throughout the entire shift.
• Climb ladders, steps, and walkways as needed.
• Lifting burdens up to 30lbs repeatedly or single lifts up to 60lbs, with mechanical assistance when required.
• Work in environments with mandatory PPE: hard hat, hearing/eye protection, steel‑toed safety shoes.
• Work around strong odors, sanitation chemicals, and in wet or humid conditions.

• Hourly competitive starting pay of $20.90 per hour.
• $1.00 per hour shift differential for second shift.
