Position

Summary

The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating, testing, and optimizing CNC programs for the manufacturing of precision tools, dies, molds, and fixtures. This role ensures that CNC machines operate efficiently, producing high-quality components that meet design specifications and tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in CNC programming with a strong understanding of setups on CNC machines. This position plays a key role in driving innovation, improving productivity, and ensuring the success of manufacturing operations.

Primary Responsibilities CNC Programming
  • Develop and write CNC programs for machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines using software like Mastercam, AutoCAD, Solid Works, or equivalent.
  • Optimize tool paths, speeds, and feeds to maximize efficiency, reduce cycle time, and minimize tool wear.
  • Translate blueprints, CAD models, and design specifications into machine instructions
Fabrication Support
  • Assist in the setup and operation of CNC machines during the initial run to verify program accuracy.
  • Modify programs as needed based on machine performance, quality checks, or production requirements.
Quality Assurance
  • Conduct precision measurements and inspections of machined components to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Troubleshoot machining errors, identify root causes, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain consistent quality standards in all programming and machining operations.
Process Improvement
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime.
  • Stay up to date with advancements in CNC technology, tooling, and machining techniques.
  • Develop best practices for programming and machining workflows.
Collaboration with Engineering and Production Teams
  • Work closely with engineers, tool and die makers, and production staff to align programming with manufacturing goals.
  • Provide technical guidance on design feasibility and manufacturability.
Documentation and Maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, tooling instructions, and job specifications.
  • Ensure CNC equipment is properly maintained and calibrated for consistent performance.
  • Create and update technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
Requirements Education Requirements and Skills

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Associate’s degree or certification in CNC programming, machining, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
  • 1-3 years of experience in CNC programming and tool and die manufacturing.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software, such as Mastercam, AutoCAD, or Solid Works.
  • Hands‑on experience operating CNC machines and inspecting machine components.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in G‑code and M‑code programming for CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and precision measurement tools.
