Equipment Operator - Forklift - 3rd Shift

Smithfield Foods is looking for Machine Operators to support safe and high‑quality production of meat products. The role involves operating meat cutting and packaging machines, providing support to the production line, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

• Operate meat cutting and packaging machinery and other production equipment.
• Perform essential production tasks and support coworkers to maintain a safe, efficient line.
• Maintain equipment, follow written and oral instructions, and produce high‑quality products.
• Work scheduled shifts, which may include overtime per production demands.

• Reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic.
• Ability to work safely in a fast‑moving production environment.
• Team player who supports coworkers and contributes to a positive atmosphere.

• Perform tasks requiring continuous or repetitive movement, such as grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to 12 hours.
• Work in wet, humid, hot (over 100°F) or cold (20–40°F) areas.
• Wear required PPE: hard hat, eye/hearing protection, steel‑toed shoes.
• Handle knives (if trained), blood, carcass parts, and sanitation chemicals.
• Climb ladders, walk long distances, and move on platforms.
• Heavy lifting up to 60lb, overhead lifting up to 30lb, with mechanical assistance as needed.
• Work in a noisy environment and around strong smells/odors.
